Wrinkles and Renos
Wrinkles and Renos go hand in hand. Lou has a way of smoothing them out. He did a legal basement suite development for us four years ago in our rental property and dealt with the wrinkles inherent in the process--need for a replacement sewer line, change in bathroom layout because of plumbing issues, scheduling rejigs for contractors and the like. It was all done in a timely manner and we were very happy with the outcome of the professional design and construction.
Why I'm writing this testimonial four years after the work is a testament to his client care after the job is done. There was one inspection that slipped through the cracks and the city got to it four years later and did not pass the HVAC. Even though his normal warranty period was over and he could probably have tried to walk away, Lou got out the iron and took care of that last wrinkle too. He got the contractor back and even did some of the work at his own expense to get the HVAC passed, Lou Soucy and Renovations of Excellence--Smooth Operators!

Lou Is on Top of Everything!
We've worked with Renovations of Excellence for two projects and have been amazed at how smoothly things go with Lou! He spends lots of time with us at the beginning of the process, answering all our questions and covering all the details, and then he is on top of everything throughout the reno. His people are unfailingly polite and clean up after their work. And he is always ready to fix any problems that come up, even after the sign is gone! Renos are stressful, but it is wonderful to work with a contractor you can trust like Lou!

Worth the Price
Hi Lou,
The total duration of our $65,000 renovation was (essentially) 2 months. Compared to other renos done in our neighborhood (especially DIY renos) I believe it went off very well considering the scope of the renovation.
These are our thoughts:
Some may question your charge for the reno drawings. It's best people are serious about a professionally done reno before engaging your service. You don't work for free, nor should you. You wisely budgeted a line item for "the unforeseen expenses ". Good thing! I can't imagine a reno on an older home like ours, not running into a few snags. Your advice (and that of your designers and contractors) was often invaluable. IE Your idea to re-finish our entire ceiling, as opposed to just the renovated kitchen area was fabulous! Your sheet rock and finishing contractors were great. Your flooring contractor was truly a master! Your finishing carpenter (and general fix-it guy), Re'jean, was great! Your team did some very interesting fixes to our very uneven and unmatched floors.
We did encounter problems with a few contractors regarding work quality and work done not quite to our liking. FORTUNATELY, having you to deal directly with them on our behalf (and not us) was worth your price even though it gave you grey hair on the odd occasion. We are quite happy with what your designer Diane (from Kitchen Craft) came up with. The cabinets all arrived on time as scheduled. The kitchen cabinet(s) assembly and dining room booth were completed on schedule.
Bottom line Lou, is that we are very much enjoying our professionally renovated home now and would recommend your company to anybody wanting to do the same.

The Results Were Outstanding
When we decided that it was time to do a complete renovation of our basement there was no doubt in our minds that Lou Soucy had the experience and knowledge we wanted and that he really listened to our ideas. Plus we thoroughly enjoyed his convivial personality. His referral to a design expert was an excellent move in helping us imagine what the changes could look like.
We were impressed with the way in which Lou ensured the different trades stayed on a schedule and he kept us informed as the project moved along. If we had any questions, he got back to us quickly and personally checked that the work was being done as planned. All of the trades people did outstanding work and were most accommodating in our contacts with them.
Just after the renovations were completed, we had the misfortunate of a sewer back-up that necessitated disassembling and reassembling all of the custom built counters and cabinets, replacing all the new carpets and replacing portions of drywall that had sustained water damage. We informed the insurance company that we would only use Lou to do the repairs. The result was outstanding.
We have enjoyed showing the new lower level to friends and have referred a number of them to Lou. They too have been pleased with the results.

Impeccable Workmanship and Great to Work With
I "found" Lou at the Home Renovation Show, October 2014. I was immediately taken by his open and honest demeanour, and of course his sense of humour. After several on-site meetings, work began late January 2015 and was completed late May - virtually to the day in our contract. All the tradespeople were great to work with; their workmanship is impeccable. My 1960s bungalow is now modern, open, airy and beautiful. I couldn't be happier with my new, old digs! Professional Work from Start to Finish
We had never done a major renovation before and didn’t know where to start. We met Lou at the home and renovation show. We had a look at pictures of his work and talked to him and found him to be very knowledgeable and friendly. We contacted Lou to get our project started, and he came right over to have a look and get things going.
He always let us know what was happening next and which trade was coming when. He kept the project moving, and we were so impressed with his professionalism. Very Considerate
Renovations of Excellence Ltd. completed a basement reno for our family over the 2004/2005 winter. The process seemed very unobtrusive to us, as we had a young child and were home through the process. The contractors who came through were very professional and considerate under the circumstances.
Lou made a number of visits to the home prior to and during the renovation process. He ensured that the work we wanted to have done was well planned out.
